About the author

John Strommen is a Lutheran pastor, writer and theologian. After several years in youth and family ministry, he was called to be senior pastor of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church of Plymouth, MN. John recently completed a Masters of Theology degree at Luther Seminary on the importance of bringing Martin Luther's core theological insights into conversation with twenty-first century experience. What might it mean for us if God is a life-giving presence rather than angry judge, calling each of us into partnership and co-creation of a better world? Look for a full treatment of this in his next book, Becoming Human Again, due out in late 2025.

John grew up in Richfield, MN; was a captain of Richfield's varsity basketball team; graduated magna cum laude from Augsburg University, with a B.A. in philosophy; is an accomplished photographer with his own website, strommen.smugmug.com, and has a passionate interest in jazz, cinema, and travel. He and his wife, Heidi, live in Plymouth, MN, and have two grown children, Thomas and Kiera.
